Read the label

Composition identifies the fibres; care symbols describe recommended treatment. If the label is missing, identify the fabric cautiously and test any treatment on a hidden area.

Natural and blended fibres

Cotton and linen can crease; wool and silk often need gentle handling. Blends combine different properties, so no single rule fits every fabric.

Wash less, air more

Not every garment needs washing after each wear. Airing, brushing and promptly treating a small mark can reduce wear and water use when the fabric allows it.

Drying and storage

Avoid high heat unless the label allows it. Dry shape-sensitive knits flat and store clean textiles in a dry, ventilated place.

Repair before replacing

A button, hem or seam can often be repaired with simple tools. For delicate or tailored pieces, seek experienced advice before attempting a repair.

Style is personal: observe, experiment and choose what genuinely works for you.
